LifeStance Health is one of the largest outpatient mental health groups in the country: psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners and therapists at more than 550 centers in 34 states, in person and by telehealth. it says most copays run $22 to $36 with insurance. it does not publish its self-pay rates, and it requires a credit card on file. veisund is a different thing: free peer support by post and reply, under a handle. not therapy. this page is for deciding which one you need.

if you want in-person care from a psychiatrist, psychologist or therapist, or services that need a clinic, LifeStance offers them and veisund never will. that includes psychological and neuropsychological testing, autism evaluations, TMS and Spravato, alongside ordinary therapy and medication management, for children, teens and adults. it takes a long list of plans, including many Medicare plans. if you need a diagnosis, testing or medication, a clinic like this is the right door.
LifeStance's financial responsibility page is worth five minutes before a first visit. it requires a card on file and authorises charges for copays, coinsurance, self-pay amounts, cancellation fees and balances after insurance. you need two business days' notice to cancel without a fee, and being 15 minutes late to therapy or 5 minutes late to a medication visit counts as a no-show; the fee amount is in a state-specific addendum rather than on the page. the same page states that payments made by credit card may no longer be considered medical debt and are not subject to certain protections. balances over $500 go through a separate process and are not charged automatically.
veisund is a free app (iOS and Android) where you post what you are dealing with under a handle you choose, and other members reply. it is not live chat, nobody is waiting on the other end, and the community is still small, so a reply can take a while. when a reply helps, you can mark your post resolved and credit that reply. the web side is an evidence library: plain-language summaries of studies, each with its source and an evidence grade, and a lookup of drug-company payments to your own doctor from the federal Open Payments data. no one on veisund is a licensed clinician treating you, nothing is billed to insurance, and nothing is prescribed. next to LifeStance, the honest case is: no card on file, no insurance, no name, and it works in states LifeStance does not serve. it is peer support, not care.
