Talkiatry is an online psychiatry practice that hires its own clinicians and works only through insurance. that last part matters more than anything else on this page: its help center says it has no self-pay option for patients whose plans are out of network, and it does not accept Medicaid. if your plan is in-network, most patients pay around $30 a visit. veisund does not offer psychiatry, medication, or therapy. it is free peer support by post and reply, under a handle. we describe Talkiatry's service here; we never compare medications or suggest one.

if you have commercial insurance or Medicare that Talkiatry accepts and you want a psychiatric evaluation or ongoing medication management, Talkiatry is built for exactly that and veisund offers none of it. visits are online, it sees patients from age 5, and it says visits are longer than many practices so there is time to talk. it also says it is a practice rather than a marketplace: it vets and hires its own clinicians. if you think you might need medication, a psychiatrist is the person to ask.
first, insurance: no self-pay, and no Medicaid. if Talkiatry says it does not take your plan, its own help center points you to your doctor, your insurer's directory, Zocdoc or Psychology Today. second, fit: Talkiatry says it cannot tell whether you are a fit for virtual care until after the first visit. third, controlled substances: it says whether its doctors can prescribe them depends on your state's laws, because some states require an in-person visit first, and that a new clinician may not agree with a past treatment plan. fourth, therapy: it offers therapy only to people already seeing a Talkiatry psychiatrist. it also does not treat primary substance use disorders. and a privacy note: Talkiatry's homepage carries a notice that a vendor security incident affected some patients' protected health information; the linked notice names the vendor as TriZetto Provider Solutions.
veisund is a free app (iOS and Android) where you post what you are dealing with under a handle you choose, and other members reply. it is not live chat, nobody is waiting on the other end, and the community is still small, so a reply can take a while. when a reply helps, you can mark your post resolved and credit that reply. the web side is an evidence library: plain-language summaries of studies, each with its source and an evidence grade, and a lookup of drug-company payments to your own doctor from the federal Open Payments data. no one on veisund is a licensed clinician treating you, nothing is billed to insurance, and nothing is prescribed. one overlap worth mentioning: Talkiatry's own footer points patients to the federal Open Payments database, and veisund's library has a lookup built on that same data, so you can see drug-company payments to any doctor, not only a Talkiatry one. veisund will not tell you anything about which medication to take.
