I understand this feeling. I think— though— sometimes we set our expectations for ourselves too high in relation to others and often judge ourselves by things outside our own control. Do you feel like this might be the case for you?

I agree with Blue Eagle! Often when I let others know of this feeling, they tell me I’m not disappointing them at all, and that I’m just being too hard on myself

Yes. I certainly do that. I have trouble forgiving, especially myself.

That’s helpful to know red bear. I always struggle to ask. Feel so much shame from asking

Op, yes, it’s hard to ask... Have you heard of self-compassion? It helped me not be so hard on myself. One of the ways I use it is to talk to myself like I would to a friend. If they came to you and said they felt like a disappointment, what would you tell them? Then, say those words to yourself, and see if that helps?

That’s a great idea! Thank you.

I’d say don’t be so hard on yourself
