sense of self & belonging

Had a difficult few months, a 3-year relationship just ended. My ex has BPD and seems to be intent on destroying me. I never thought someone who told me that they loved me could be so cold and harmful. Diagnosed with ASD and ADHD, finishing off a Valium taper. 24 years prescribed.. So much coming from so many different angles.. Life is really difficult at the moment!!

I’m sorry! That sounds like a lot. It’s amazing how quickly people can change. But congrats on the Valium taper! It takes courage to do that and sometimes the people we are with are not willing to undergo a self improvement journey alongside us if we are on it. It sounds like maybe that’s happening in this sense. Does that sound somewhat accurate?

We never expect such a sudden change. But you are pretty correct. This is a journey of exploration and I'm hoping to come out a better person. It is difficult, but I have been through worse. Life is one big challenge!! Coming off Valium we experience emotions that may not have come to the surface for quite some time, it's a matter of catching them and dealing with them before they take over.

For sure. It sounds like you are approaching this challenge with a grounded approach which I admire. I know you already know this but I’ll say it anyway, if they aren’t going to grow with you and make you better, they are not someone you want to be with long term and so as hard as it is, sounds like it’s the right choice. the loneliness is ok to experience, need not be fearful, and it’s temporary
