BlahTherapy has paired strangers for anonymous venting since 2010. on 2026-09-29 its own chat hub said the venter and listener chat is being redeveloped and "will be available again for all in the near future". in the meantime it sends visitors to AI chatbots. if you came for a person to vent to, here is what BlahTherapy was, what it's pointing to now, and a free human option that isn't live chat.
| BlahTherapy | veisund | |
|---|---|---|
| status on 2026-09-29 | vent chat offline for redevelopment, per its chat hub page | live on iOS and Android |
| what the chat hub offers now | links to AI chatbots: Pi.ai, ChatGPT, Tolan | people. no AI writes replies |
| format (when running) | one-on-one live chat with a random stranger | post and reply. not live chat |
| cost | the vent chat was free | free. no subscription, no ads |
| sign-up | none. a random username is assigned | a handle you pick. an email makes the account and is never shown to other members. no real name, no phone number |
| wait | "wait times vary" | replies come when people read your post. the community is small, so that can take a while |
| paid option on the site | an "Online Therapy" section promoting BetterHelp, a separate paid company | none |
| age rule | none stated on the homepage, chat hub or privacy policy we read | 18+ (veisund terms) |
BlahTherapy's homepage still describes the vent chat: "Anonymous Venting/Listening with a random assigned username. – No signup required", and "absolutely free". the chat hub it links to says something different. under "Vent to a Person" it reads "Be Back Soon" and says the chat "is currently undergoing re-development and will be available again for all in the near future." below that, it lists three AI chatbots to vent to instead: Pi.ai, ChatGPT and Tolan. the site's footer copyright runs "2010 – 2024". we can't tell from the site when the chat went offline or when it will return, so we're not guessing. checked on 2026-09-29 against the company's own pages. prices and terms change, so the links are in the sources for this page.
if the chat comes back, it offers something veisund doesn't: a live, one-on-one conversation with a stranger, with no account and no email. that's as anonymous as online venting gets, and it's instant when someone's free. veisund needs an email to make an account (no one else sees it), and it is not live. if you want someone typing back to you in real time, BlahTherapy (when it's running), Supportiv or HearMe are closer to that. if you are in crisis, none of these are the tool. call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741.
BlahTherapy's suggested replacements are AI chatbots. its own page lists a con for Pi.ai: "it's not a human and may not provide the same emotional depth as a human friend." if a person is what you want, veisund is free peer support from people. you write a post under a handle, and members who have been through something similar reply when they read it. because the post stays up, you can come back to it and read the replies, and when something helps you can mark it resolved and credit the reply. the community is small, so replies can take a while. it's not therapy and not a crisis service.
BlahTherapy's homepage has an "Online Therapy" section describing BetterHelp's licensed therapists and plans. BetterHelp is a separate, paid company. if licensed therapy is what you need, compare it directly (see our BetterHelp page) rather than relying on a summary on a vent-chat site.

Yes. Its homepage describes the anonymous vent chat as "absolutely free" with no signup and a randomly assigned username. The site also links to BetterHelp, a separate paid therapy service.
veisund is free peer support from real people, by post and reply. It is not live one-on-one chat. You post under a handle and members reply when they read it. If you want a live conversation, a moderated live peer chat is closer. If you're in danger, call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741.
Its homepage says the vent chat used a randomly assigned username with no signup required. Its privacy policy says the site collects navigational data such as IP address, browser version and service provider.
No. BlahTherapy's own chat hub lists that as a con of the AI option it recommends: it is not a human. Whether a chatbot helps is up to you. It is not a person who has been through what you're going through.
