Finch is a self-care pet app: you set small goals like drinking water or stepping outside, and completing them sends your bird on adventures. its core features are free. it's gentle and it works for a lot of people. the one thing it isn't built for is conversation. Finch's social layer is sending "good vibes" to friends you add. veisund is free too, and it's built around the conversation: you post what's going on under a handle and other people reply.

Finch describes itself as "a free self-care pet app that helps you take small steps for yourself." its about page says the core features are free with "no paid subscription needed": caring for your bird, setting goals, writing reflections, sending good vibes to friends and joining seasonal events. Finch Plus is optional and adds more reflection prompts, more emoji choices, expanded activities and timer options, and extra seasonal rewards. Finch sends you to its help center for current Plus pricing; that page blocked our automated read, so we don't quote a price. the app is made by Finch Care PBC. checked on 2026-09-29 against each company's own site.
if what you need is a routine, Finch is the better fit. it turns small daily actions into something you look forward to, and on low days a goal as small as "make your bed" can matter. it asks nothing social of you: you don't have to write to anyone, and nobody reads your reflections. if the idea of posting to strangers feels like too much right now, that's a real reason to pick Finch. one more difference: veisund is 18+ only. Finch's age rules are in its own terms, which we couldn't load, so check there.
veisund is for when a check-box isn't enough and you want another person to answer back. you post under a handle, with no real name and no phone number, and members who've been through something similar reply. it isn't live chat, and the community is still small, so replies can take a while. if a reply helps, you can mark the post resolved and credit it. there's also a web library with plain-language summaries of studies and an evidence grade on each, if you want to read what the research says about the thing you're dealing with.
they don't compete for the same slot. Finch covers the daily routine; veisund covers the conversation you can't have with anyone you know. neither is therapy and neither is a crisis service. if you're in danger, call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741.

Finch lets you add friends and send them good vibes. It is not built for writing to strangers or getting written replies. veisund is built for that: you post, and other members reply.
veisund is free and people-first: you post under a handle and others who have lived something similar reply. It has no virtual pet or goal tracker, so some people use both.
Neither. Finch is a self-care habit app and veisund is peer support. For diagnosis, medication or therapy, see a licensed professional.
