stress & emotional wellbeing

I often have this feeling I call stress, idk if that's the right word but it's nothing like anxiety or fear. So I just feel like pressure in my stomach, I can breathe in just fine but it's hard to breathe out, I feel uncomfortable but it's not like the anxious kind of uncomfortable but rather uncomfortable like when your arm gets tired for lifting something kinda heavy (but not quite) for a long time.

So whatever the name of that thing is, I've noticed if I feel that late at night then my night is horrible and I basically get no rest even when I actually get to fall asleep. Whatever the name of that thing is, I'd like to ask you if you know of anything I can do to get rid of that feeling. I don't mind the feeling itself, I can bear it, but the problem is the consequences of it, that means, bad sleep

Fascinating. I used to get sensations of bouncing while in my bed. Like my body was shaking up and down but I was actually staying still. It didn’t scare me too much unless it got really severe and it would scare me. Not exactly the same thing but it’s happened to me less as I get older but still sometimes I can relive it for a short moment

Hard to breathe out huh? Thats interesting. Like something is restricting your exhale externally or you internally cannot find the strength or power to exhale?

  • the person who asked

A restriction I'd say, not quite but that's the closest thing ig

Does that sound similar to anything you experience in your awake life? Like something restricting your freedom, voice, interests or something?

  • the person who asked

Maybe, it's kinda similar to what I feel when I'm frustrated? Well, not purely frustrated but putting up with something, holding back

Fascinating. What’s your reaction to that feeling when it’s happening in real life outside of sleeping?

  • the person who asked

Both things happen while I'm awake, it's just that if the thing I described happens at night I've found that it takes a toll on my sleep quality But for both things I react the same way, I let it be and deal with it

Let it be and deal with it? But sounds like it makes you unnerved to a degree. Do you think you are approaching it effectively or are you looking for a new approach?

  • the person who asked

I'm looking for new approach, just something that helps me sleep

Ever do guided meditations? Yoga nidra is a good style, also called a body scan. Ever done a body scan? Probably are tons on YouTube

  • the person who asked

    Yes, I have

  • someone who replied, again

Have you tried asking the feelings (and yourself) what you can learn from them?

  • the person who asked

Not really, how do I do that?

  • the person who asked

    Learn from them, I mean

Ask. Watch why happens to your mind. Price what conclusions your mind jumps to vs thoughts or insights that appear fresh or not like the usual internal talk track. Try your best to keep asking the question without a mind that searches for answers but with a mind that’s open to the potential of an answer but not requiring one. You may be to wait or it may be immediate. But learn to discern your programming from genuine insight

    How’s it going?
