I can’t sleep, I know I am stuck in obsessive thinking patterns but I can’t seem to get past it right now.

What's helped me in the past is to first write down the thoughts, then physically put the paper away from my bed. You can come back and deal with it in the morning. Then I'd listen to a familiar movie soundtrack (or classical piece, or Max Richter' Sleep album) and let my attention follow it. It took some time for it to work, but it helped me slowly break away from the thought patterns. I sometimes added a "body scan", focusing on relaxing.

I'm guessing an audio book could work as well.. just something you can hold on to whenever cyclical thought patterns try to make a comeback. It does the job of distracting the mind, but without the downside of keeping you awake (like anything that's on a screen would).

This guided meditation helped me relax when I was in really bad shape. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=acLUWBuAvms
