This used to happen to me a lot. Still does sometimes. Meditation helped a lot— it helped me be more aware of and in control of my mental states and energy. Basically it helped me not to spiral— I might get sad or into a state of low energy but that’s okay. Just need to sit with that instead of allowing it to spiral out of control. Same with anxiety.

Imperfect environments are perfect to practice with. The first couple times I made real progress I sat out on the side of the street by my apartment and committed to 10 minutes (using a timer on my phone) to be as still as I possible could, regardless of what was going on with my mind. It was kind of funny to notice how hard that was, but after doing it a few times my self-control started to noticeably increase.

It can also help to do guided mediations with headphones when your environment is noisy.
