I have started having suicidal thoughts. I know it’s irrational and that just makes me feel even more stupid. I feel like a failure

You are not a failure. I had suicidal thoughts too. They are fewer and far between than before and you can get there too. Some new research out on suicide says the mind is just looking for a solution to a problem like pain or negativity or self loathing. It's not actually something wrong with you

Are you working with anyone or talking about these thoughts with anyone close to you?

Suicidal thoughts, like any thoughts, are just thoughts. They don't define you. Sounds like you're experiencing tough feelings, those just happen and, again, don't define who you are. We all ride ups and downs in life, sometimes we need more skills to feel better while riding them. Like what was already mentioned, To you have someone to talk with to bring connection and help you see you (the person) from the thoughts and feelings?

I’m not unfortunately. I’m a minor and I’m afraid to go to my parents with this stuff

I’m a minor and I’m afraid to tell my parents how I’m feeling without being judged.

What about at school or work? Ha e you told anyone there? I struggled for a long time with suicidal thoughts and it didn't get better until I started talking about it so I'm trying to figure out how you can start to get some people on your side

The school I go to is catholic and they have said multiple times that being depressed is your own fault.

Expecting judgment from others is so tricky! You want to be open and yet can't. It's like being trapped. Sometimes parents send mixed messages but deep down they do care and want to help. Tough to know. I'm sad to hear the response from school. We have a long way to go at understanding emotions as part of normal human development. If there's on person, he/she may have an idea? Know the hotline is always there too 800-273-8255
