I can try! Let’s do a practice exercise. Answer the question How are you feeling in this format. ‘I am feeling … because …’

I am feeling sad, angry, anxious and scared because the first and only person I've ever really like romantically speaking is no longer in my life, this person just won't reply and I'm forced to let go, I guess? I'm not sure because I kinda feel like that but it's like a weird mix of them all

I’m sorry for your loss. Grieving is hard. No way around it. You are not forced to do anything but you do have a choice. You have a choice for what you do from here on. You can hold on to what was and wish for it once again, you can acknowledge what it was and appreciate that it occurred, or you can move forward and on to the next.

Most people’s first romantic interest isn’t the last one they ever have. It’s rarely the only one ever had too. Most people it’s just the start of something. Not the end.

Is it really grieving? Is just that I don't know the feeling, I'm not that good at understanding emotions

That’s ok. What would you call it if not grieving?

  • the person who asked

    I honestly don't know, I don't think I've ever felt grief before

Grief is the feeling you get when you acknowledge something that you once had is no longer around. It’s the expression of loss. Sounds like you are grieving a relationship that you had. It’s not a bad thing. Typically that just means that it meant something to you and now you are sad because you may not or don’t have it anymore. Sound familiar?

Makes sense, but we weren't a couple yet, yes, I had feelings for this person but nothing "that big"

  • the person who asked

Can grief feel like what I'm feeling rn? (Sadness, anger, anxiety and fear)

  • someone who replied, again

Yes. Very much can. Also, it doesn’t matter if you were not a couple. You can still grieve the loss of a strong feeling or relationship, no need to bring a label into what you experienced. What happened happened, it was a strong experience for you and now you are learning about yourself from it.

I've decided to move on, but I don't know how, any tips?

  • someone who replied, again

Allow yourself to acknowledge how you felt. Don’t diminish the experience. Try and thank yourself and her (don’t reach out to her) in your heart truly and deeply for the experience. See if you can cultivate appreciation towards that experience and both of your contributions without needing to get more.

    Ok, thanks a lot!
