purpose & emotional clarity

In my particular case, it’s been 4 years already since I don’t feel motivated by anything anymore. Trying to focus on things I love to do (playing tennis, cooking, animals, etc.) but I don’t feel full-filled anymore. Feeling lazy emotionally and physically, I wish I had company when I’m alone, and want to be alone when I am with people.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me more about yourself and your life? Live with people? In a relationship? how’s your job or school going..? I’m curious about what could be contributing to this feeling

I’m 34 now, living alone with my cat and I’m single. My job is ok I guess, just pays the bills. Might been on an existential crisis since 30’s. Sometimes I got the feeling that this is as good as it gets, can’t complain the life that I had. I’ve been happy and feel very thankful for all the experiences I lived, just don’t feel motivated with anything at all anymore.

What do you mean by as good as it gets? In what way?

  • the person who asked

I guess that I’m feeling nostalgic, that all past times were better and I won’t find myself in a better shape both physicall and intellectually.

  • someone who replied, again

Hum. That’s a saddening thought. What makes you think that’s a real potential option?

Said another way, what makes you think that life won’t get better? Despite aging physically or mentally do you feel your perspective growing and deepening?

  • the person who asked

My perspective of life is been uptrending and felt like an inflection point where I realize half of my life is gone so fast and right now feeling nostalgic and more reflexive about life and death, what I have achieved against what I wanna achieve. Hard to explain, but feeling like in a downtrend this days. Also feeling not motivated about how the planet runs these days, wars, politic corruptions, epidemics, how money runs everything, news, etc.

First of all I’ve come to the same realization and am about your age. 32. I’m very much acutely aware of death now and it is frightening. The second point I often think of the serenity prayer, take responsibility for what you can control and accept what you cannot. It’s easy today to get swept up in the public discussion and polarization. We must focus on keeping ourselves independent and informed opinions on those things. There is profit in

Discord. Let’s not forget they are all just trying to make money on us and our suffering. But we must persist and not let their narratives disenfranchise us to living to our full potential. I think they are in fact designed to disenfranchise us and we must not let that reality get to us. Otherwise I’d agree, what’s the point? Each of us is alive with a unique gift, don’t let them win and prevent you from sharing that

Thanks for your words. I’m pretty independent, but the system makes me so lazy to fight against… and I’m feeling stressed and anxious, even if my life is pretty simple and calm. Been having a pressure on my chest since then. Went to the doctor but seems my heart works as a clock.

Interesting. What’s intriguing to you in life? What do you enjoy or have a unique perspective or interest on that you are drawn to?

  • the person who asked

Don’t know what to reply to that, nothing intrigues me anymore. Feeling exhausted of life tbh.

  • someone who replied, again

What used to? What have your interests or passions been over the years?

  • the person who asked

Normal things I guess, computers, internet, art, music, traveling…

  • someone who replied, again

Do you feel that you are living to your full potential? Are you challenged and tested in your pursuits such that you are fulfilled with your contribution in life?

  • the person who asked

Not full potential to be honest, just surviving. I don’t feel challenged neither fulfilled, but I dont even have the energy to pursuit

  • someone who replied, again

Thank you for sharing and saying that openly. I respect you being truthful with me and yourself.

  • someone who replied, again

What’s your relationship to that sentiment you just shared? You know you have more in you but don’t feel thrilled about it/it’s worth it. How come?
