stress & emotional wellbeing

Hello, I recently went through a breakup with the perfect woman because I was too stupid to realize what I had. Everything was great at first but then I started criticizing things that really didn’t matter in hindsight. She stayed almost 3 years and when she left it broke me. I’ve been trying to move foreword with my life, but everything I want to do is “tainted” with the memory of her. Covid turned me into a different person and I regret toomuch

Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you opening up like that. It can be hard. What makes you think you screwed it up and how come you split up?

  • the person who asked

I screwed it up and we split up for the same reason. I neglected her for too long and communication broke down. We were both using cocaine, but I was using too much and forgot to pay attention to her. I was using it through the covid lockdowns and when they ended I was too conditioned to being inside and high that I was kind of afraid of going out. I couldn’t articulate that at the time and most of my communication was angrier than necessary.

I realized something was wrong and wanted to go to therapy. I was going to surprise her, but she left 3 days before it started.

I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds like you’ve been doing some thorough introspection which I respect. How much of this have you shared with her?

  • the person who asked

I gave her a 5 page letter in July. No response.

Sounds like you laid it all out there, good for you. Seems like there really isn’t much for you can do. What makes you think she’s the perfect woman and you won’t find another partner that fits who you are and become?

  • the person who asked

She was everything I wanted in a partner I just didn’t realize it at the time. I criticized too many things and instead of building the healthy relationship I wanted it to be and inadvertently built my own coffin. She knew every little detail about me and accepted it but I was too fixated on trivial things instead of her. She wanted kids, she was willing to learn about everything but my own ego got in the way and I pushed her away.
