relationships & contentment

I have been married for 20 years to my husband and over the years it has become a relationship that feels like we are 2 people co habiting. He does not feel that way. Recently I have had a major job change and have voiced my thoughts more loudly. How do I explain to him that I love him but am not in love with him and how do I know that’s true?

What have you tried so far and what’s the point that doesn’t seem to be landing in his mind the way you want it to?

We have tried counseling which changed things for a short time but then went back to the way they were.

Sounds to me like you think it's true based on the statement 'how do I explain it to him ...not in love w him'. Is that accurate? Or are you still unsure about this idea? What's your heart calling out to? Keep trying to spark the relationship or go separate ways?

Have you talked with him about that? Does he share this understanding as well?

Otherwise I’d have to ask, what’s stopping you from just leaving? Taking a break, whatever you wanna call it. Seeing how that feels and goes.
