relationships & contentment

I'm married to a man with borderline personality disorder. We just celebrated ten years, but it's been a very bad past few. He turned to drugs and alcohol and I turned to alcohol and other men. Now we're both sober and I came clean about an affair. His disorder makes him extremely mentally abusive and he calls me names constantly. I fear my mental health is fading fast.

That sounds tough. It seems his mental health problem has been affecting you. Loved ones of a person who suffers from a mental disorder can put their own mental health at risk. In these situations, it is advisable to see a therapist yourself. 2 reasons: 1) YOU. Your well-being matters. 2) The relationships. To maintain a sound relationship and at times help the one who suffers from the disorder, you need to be healthy and happy yourself.

If seeing a therapist in person isn't realistic, online therapy is an option: you have more control over how much money you'll spend on it, it is more flexible (time), and you don't need to worry about going/driving anywhere. Personally I prefer in person when it's doable, but online is still helpful.
